Hordle Walhampton School

Hordle Walhampton is a remarkable school in a remarkable setting.

An independent boarding and day school catering for boys and girls from 2 – 13, it is set on the southern edge of the New Forest National Park, near Lymington in Hampshire. Standing on our front lawn you can view the rolling hills of the Isle of Wight while breathing in the fresh sea air from the Solent.

There are few prep schools that enjoy more beautiful grounds than Hordle Walhampton. Lakes, woodland and extensive games fields surround the main house, providing wonderful facilities, in nearly one hundred acres, for academic lessons, sailing, beekeeping and riding.

We’re proud of our consistently impressive academic results. Children are extremely well prepared for the top secondary schools both locally and nationally. We want all our boys and girls to be genuinely inspired by their teachers and to develop a deep love of learning.

We believe in academic rigour but we also believe in breadth. Hordle Walhampton strives for much more than just success in exams. We believe in developing the whole person – physically, spiritually, and emotionally as well as intellectually. As WB Yeats said: “Education is not filling a bucket but lighting a fire.” I hope the fire we light at Hordle Walhampton will burn brightly long after your child has left here.

Come and visit us. You will find a school in a stunning location, with a distinctive ethos and a tremendous spirit!

About The New Headmaster

Titus, Malachi, Cassius, Raffi and Jemima Mills

“I’m a Hordle Walhampton parent as well as its Headmaster and so I have a strong personal interest in making this the best school it can possibly be. After attending Eton College, I taught Tibetan refugees in India and it was here that I discovered a love of teaching. I studied Art History at university and trained to teach in Oxford. Since then I’ve worked in a variety of schools, both state and private, from Lambeth to Uganda, Rome to Bath. I firmly believe that our children’s years at school should be some of the best of their lives. This is my third post as a Headmaster, but my first year at this wonderful school. There are exciting times ahead and I hope you will experience them with us.”

Titus Mills, Headmaster
