Welcome to Hordle Walhampton School.
Hordle Walhampton is a forward-looking boarding and day school for boys and girls from 2 - 13 years old.
We are located on the Southern edge of the New Forest, about one mile from Lymington. Lakes, woodland and extensive games fields surround the main house, providing wonderful facilities for traditional games, sailing, riding and fieldwork.
The principal focus of Hordle Walhampton is to provide the best possible teaching, and to that end the skills of our staff and small classes help to explain the impressive scholarship board and our consistently fine examination results. However, through our breadth of education, we believe in helping each child to develop his or her own individuality and potential, whether it be in the academic, sporting or cultural life of the school.
We prepare each child for the demands and challenges of life ahead by providing opportunities to grow in self-reliance, self-discipline, confidence, Christian standards, responsibility and consideration for others.

HISTORY
In September 1997, Hordle House and Walhampton Schools merged. The new school, called Hordle Walhampton, is based on the beautiful Walhampton Manor estate which comprises a fine Queen Anne building set in 100 acres of lakes, woodland, gardens and games fields. The Pre-Preparatory Department has 130 children aged 2½ - 6; the Prep Department has 210 children aged 7 to 13.
ALL CHILDREN HAVE TALENTS
Our children are first and foremost happy. We believe that all children have talents; we provide an exciting and varied educational programme which allows those talents to be recognised and to develop. This leads to a growth in confidence which is the key to children making further progress.
WE EDUCATE THE WHOLE CHILD
We focus on five key areas:- Intellectual development: We are committed to achieving academic excellence. Class size averages 15. Cultural development: We teach children to understand and appreciate music, art, dance and drama. Spiritual development: At the heart of the School lies the Christian faith. Our pastoral care system is based on the Christian values of love and forgiveness. Social development: We have a very strong sense of community. There are over 50 Activities on offer which allow children to develop new skills. These include: beekeeping, sailing, fencing and archery. Physical development: sport is an integral part of education. We offer all the major sports. Children spend at least five hours per week doing sport.
TRANSFER TO SENIOR SCHOOLS
Some children leave at 11+ to go to one of the local grammar or girls' schools. We offer a special Year 6 class which prepares children for the 11+ examination. The majority, however, leave at 13+ . The schools to which we have sent children recently include: Bryanston, Canford, Winchester, Sherborne, Clayesmore. We have a very good knowledge of Senior Schools and we attach great importance to advising parents about which school will best meet the needs of an individual child.
