European Languages Day
Buon Giorno!
Today children from Hordle Walhampton were taught in Russian, Spanish, German, and encouraged to dress up in something that represented a European country, attaching a fact about that country to their backs.
Some staff took the brief to heart (a little too much?) too…

Forest School
![]()
Wednesday 9th September was Reception’s first foray into the woods this term and all the children were very excited.
They each had a small pot and set off collecting blackberries so that at a later date we can make jam. Quite a few scratches later, we had enough so we carried on to reach the Forest School site where we sat around our firepit and had a snack.
We all talked about the safety rules of our school and then the children went off to explore.
They found a dead pigeon which caused a great deal of excitement and conundrums! First the children photographed it and then they decided that they would find a worm and put it in its beak and that might help it to ‘be alive’. They then thought they would find a’ catapult stick’ and send it back into the sky and that might ‘make it better’. The final plan that they settled on was to ‘build a graveyard and then see if is still there next time’. We shall wait and see.
Swine Flu
A boy in Year Four has been prescribed Tamiflu but does not have a confirmed case of swine ‘flu. The advice we have been given is to continue as normal but we felt parents would like to learn of this from us rather than via the rumour mill.
Welcome back
A new school year has begun, and we’re delighted to see our “old hands” return, and we extend a very warm welcome to all our new faces, both children and staff.
On the staff, we welcome our new deputy head, Mr. Clive Smith-Langridge, who joins us from Cumnor House School, and Tim Peacock, our new Head of Maintenance, who will also be teaching woodwork.
