Whilst I’m sure we are all delighted that we are at last enjoying some warmer summer weather, may we take this opportunity to remind all parents that a generous application of suntan cream in the morning would help protect your child from the dangers of exposure to too much sunshine. A sun hat in school would also be most useful for break time use.
Year One spent a very happy morning building houses for the different minibeasts in Forest School. The site was filled with bug castles, hotels and even whole cities. The children thought carefully about the natural materials they could use to create suitable environments for the minibeasts. There was great excitement when the first beetle moved in!
The children in the Pre-prep, Year Three and Year Four had a very special visitor recently. Noah Messomo came to tell traditional stories from Africa and brought a whole array of drums for the children to play. The music played an important part in the story telling and the children were absolutely mesmerised.
The next Burrard Lecture takes place on Wednesday 26th May. Entitled “A history of Walhampton” it will be a fascinating insight into the remarkable history of the house and grounds that now make up Hordle Walhampton School. The talk, which takes places at 1900 in the PAC, will be preceded by a tour of the grounds starting by the Mercury pond at 1730. Places are still availble so do please join us. Contact the school office for further details.
The U8 rounders matches Vs. Dumpton on Wednesday 19th May are now taking place at Hordle Walhampton and not at Dumpton as published in the calendar. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

However, it was not all plain-sailing for the Conservative candidates as the following slides show:
Let’s see how the results in the rest of the country compare!
Year One had a wonderful week of lessons with Miss Fort, practising for their performance on Friday. The theme for Dance Week was Travel and Year One concentrated on the experience of going to an airport and getting on a plane. The children made a great ‘living conveyor belt’.
