Musical Meg

Former pupil, Meg Perry-Duxbury, returned to HW recently to give a piano recital in the PAC which not only delighted her audience but also raised money for The Commonwealth Resounds – a charitable outreach project which is aimed at creating closer musical links between Commonwealth countries.

Meg started at HW aged four, beginning formal piano lessons, initially with Mrs Cheminais and later Mr Aveyard. In 2004 she achieved her Grade 5 with distinction and the following year Meg gained a place at Chetham’s School of Music, one of the country’s foremost music schools, where the students study hard and practise in excess of four hours each day.

At the age of only 14, Meg achieved distinction in her Grade 8 examination and is currently taking her ABRSM Performance Diploma this year. She is also one of only seven students from Chetham’s to take part in the ‘Commonwealth Resounds! 2011′.

Meg’s dedication and talent were manifested throughout her accomplished performance at HW in which she played classical pieces and miscellaneous show tunes, preceding each with a short but informative introduction. The recital was both inspiring and entertaining and we look forward to following Meg’s musical career.
