Angels on Horseback

Pre-Prep Ladies RidingBecause riding is extremely popular with so many of our children (we currently have over 90 budding equestrians in the school), this term several of our Pre-Prep teachers decided that they too should make their way to the school’s stables in order to learn, or improve, their horsemanship.

Miss Stoyle, Mrs Lack, Mrs Cowell, Mrs Searle and Mrs Melanaphy have all discovered/rediscovered the thrills (and spills) of riding and are currently, with the help of Miss Blachford and Mrs Glennie, working hard on their co-ordination and balance.

Our horses and ponies are being remarkably supportive and patient, as the saddle-sore-six practice in either the arena or whilst out hacking through the school’s woods. Their overall aim is to compete for the newly-introduced ‘Mistletoe Cup’ which will be held during the last week of term and to which the children will be invited as spectators.

When asked about her latest recruits to riding, Miss Blachford said: “There’s no doubt they’re a game and enthusiastic bunch who seem to improve with encouragement, practice ….. and the promise of a glass of wine in the evening.”
