In the Prep School there are two classes per year group and, if numbers dictate, sometimes three.

We look on 16 as the optimum number per class and numbers never rise above 20.

In Years Three, Four, and Five children are in forms of parallel ability but set for English and Maths. From Year Six the forms are streamed and children continue to be set in English and Maths.

Specialist teaching is introduced gradually but, in Year Three at least, most of the teaching is by the Form Teacher.

Children are prepared for 13+ Common Entrance and scholarships to senior Independent schools. However we are mindful that some children will leave at 11….and we prepare them for those exams, too.
