Boarding House

THE MAINHOUSE - Boys and girls reside in their own areas of the Mainhouse.  Both have comfortable, modern and flexible accommodation overlooking the superb grounds. The Mainhouse caters for a wide range of boarding needs, from those who stay full-time to those who come simply for a night to stay with friends or when parents are away.

Most senior children join us if they are planning to move on to boarding senior schools; it’s a great way of gently easing into the boarding life-style.  The regular routine of study helps to prepare children for their exams and others come to learn about independence and to make the most of all of the activities and facilities of a prep school.

At weekends there is a full programme of activities during the day and in the evenings we frequently go out, perhaps bowling, to the cinema or to a restaurant.

Bedtimes are staggered according to year group and all have a 15 minute quiet time when the children are encouraged to read before lights out. At weekends and occasionally if there’s a ‘big match’ on the television, bedtimes are extended as we try to make life in the Mainhouse as much like home as we can.
