The HWPA runs a programme of events throughout the year. Some are fund-raising, some purely social but our main aim is to bring parents, children and teachers together to have a good time.
The key HWPA events every year are Fireworks Night, Carols in the Courtyard, The Christmas Fair, Quiz Night and The Summer Ball. Additions in the past year include a Charity Sports Sale (proceeds to Clic Sargent) and a very popular Wine Tasting evening hosted by Gerard Bassett.
Funds raised during the 2010/11 academic year have been used to purchase a treehouse/platform around the oak tree by the Astro which is now complete. We have also recently allocated grants purchasing the following:-
Metal storage shed for the astro along with Nike footballs & Gilbert Rugby balls for use at break times, 2 new sewing machines and accessories for activities, Air rifle CZ200.177 gas gun,Table Tennis table, Graphics tablet for art room, Digital camera for use by year 3 teachers, 2 navy gazebos for use by HWPA & School for events & Games for wet breaks in classroom. If you would like to help on the HWPA or a particular event, please call Penny Marriage or talk to one of the committee members. Any help is always appreciated, either before the event and particularly during one of the events. If you need an excuse to put your creative, organisational, financial, or practical skills to the test – please get in touch!
All the committee members play their part and everyone has other commitments, so some do more – some less. It’s all appreciated. A great team of both pre-prep and prep school parents, we share the load and have a lot of fun.
The HWPA often works closely with the community and we are well supported by local business and organisations which is always appreciated. Further contacts are always welcome – particularly in printing, entertainment, catering and retail.
