If its raining, it must be time for Cross-Country!

200 boys and girls from local schools competed in the annual Perry Dalziell Cross-Country Competition at Hordle Walhampton School last week in conditions more suited to ducks.

Teams of 6 runners competed in 3 age categories (under 9, under 10 and under 11) and all raced over the 1.5km course within the school grounds.

The overall Perry Dalziell Trophy was won by Orchard School with HW finishing runners-up. There were also some good individual performances from HW runners with Posy Hewitt and Matthew Robinson both winning their races.

The weather was more favourable for runners in Years Four to Eight who  competed in the annual House Cross-Country Competition a few days earlier. At the front there was much competition for the first few places, but this is a team competition and therefore every position counts towards team glory. In the end, the trophy went to Johnson who came out just ahead of Rutherford, Osborne & Elgar.
