Grandparents' Lunch

It has become a yearly event, which both staff and grandparents always look forward to: once again this year, around 40 sets of Hordle Walhampton grandparents congregated in the Front Hall for another one of Mrs Nicholls's and Mrs Sheppard&'s delicious lunches, on Wednesday.
After a welcoming glass of sherry in the conference room, everyone sat down to listen to the Training Choir making their debut performance before they join the Chapel Choir next term. Conducted by Clive Watkiss, they beautifully sang "Grannies and Grandads" from Benedicite, by Andrew Carter. These particular Grannies and Grandads then savoured their three courses, beautifully presented and served by a group of proud years Seven and Eight children. Finally, Mr Phillips took the opportunity to say a few words during pudding, and his anecdotes were, as always, greatly appreciated by the audience.
Despite rather miserable weather which led to all matches being cancelled, the afternoon turned out to be very pleasant as all grandparents were given a chance to have a stroll around the school, to say their goodbye s for t hose whose grandchildren are in Year Eight and won’t be back next year, and to meet some of the teachers for those who have only just joined the big and happy Hordle Walhampton family...
