The nursery offers a warm welcoming atmosphere and has earned an outstanding Ofsted report. Children are able to attend from 2 years of age and they take part in a variety of activities based around each child’s stage of development. The children have access to free flow play within the inside and outside environment. They enjoy music and movement lessons and regular gym lessons in our purpose built sports hall. The children also enjoy nature walks in our stunning grounds

The Nursery endeavours to provide an open door policy, enabling the parents and carers to freely discuss any issues or concerns that may arise on a day to day basis. We feel that by working closely together with parents we are able to provide the best possible start to each child’s pre-school education.

Kindergarten

The Kindergarten is a place to grow.

The well-qualified, happy and enthusiastic staff provide a stimulating and nurturing environment which is planned according to the interests of the children. We follow the EYFS guidelines to ensure the children receive a balanced curriculum that meets their individual needs and focuses on learning through play.

If your child wants to be a shopkeeper – we will work together to create a shop; if they would like to be a knight we will make a castle together.

By following the interests of the children we make their learning meaningful to them and create links in their learning and memories that will stay with them long after they have moved to other classes.

Our flexible finishing times mean that your child can stay for a morning, for lunch, all day and stay for the after school club if necessary.

Reception

Reception 1 Reception 5

In Reception the academic curriculum completes the Early Learning Goals and provides the link for the transition to Key Stage 1. To enhance the academic curriculum we value the importance of learning outside as well as inside the classroom – we have our own vegetable patch and attend Forest School each week, whatever the weather!

The children make regular visits to the Prep School for weekly ICT lessons in the ICT suite, weekly stories in the library and to the Chapel for junior assemblies.

Reception outing Reception 3

As well as welcoming a variety of visitors to the department, the children are also taken out on various trips within the local community, for example to The New Forest Otter and Owl Sanctuary, Longdown dairy Farm and Moors Valley Country Park.
