The 1st team or A team in every year group in all sports is selected purely on attitude and ability.     

The 2nd/B team/3rd/C team will be rotated around so that every child will have the opportunity to represent the school and play in at least one match during the season.  

None of these teams are set in stone, there will be movement in and out of these teams.  It is hoped that the children will always work hard to stay in the 1st/A team or to move up from the 2nd/3rd or B/C teams. 

It is important to note that attitude during training and in games lessons also plays a vital role in team selection.  A child has got to show interest and the desire to be included in the team even if they have exceptional ability.  If a child is not showing the correct attitude during training, the coach will speak to the child.  It is hoped that afterwards the child’s attitude will improve.  The school will honour their commitment of ensuring every child will play in a match, as it is often felt that this will give the children the encouragement and desire to work hard in training, because of the boost and enjoyment of playing in a match and representing the school.    

Please note that throughout the whole season the coach’s decision on Team Selection is FINAL.  

Captain Selection

It is the coach’s decision as to whom they wish to elect as Captain of their team.  In Year 8, the captain of the 1st team in each sport is not only the Captain of the 1st team, but also a role model for the other teams and it is expected that they will support, encourage and help the other teams.
